On 9 September 2021, Commissioner Liu Guangyuan received a courtesy call from new CG of the UK Mr Brian Davidson and issued the exequatur to him.

Commissioner Liu welcomed Mr Davidson for assuming his new post in Hong Kong and expounded China’s principled position on Hong Kong-related issues. He also expressed the hope that the British Consulate General in Hong Kong could help the UK to have comprehensive and true understanding of Hong Kong, respect and abide by the rule of law in the city, promote practical cooperation and friendly exchanges between Hong Kong and the UK, and play a constructive role in the development of China-UK relations and Hong Kong-UK practical cooperation.
