Commissioner's Office: US sabotage attempts will never stop the historical trend towards greater success of "One Country, Two Systems"

The spokesperson of the Commissioner's Office firmly opposed and refuted the so-called "Hong Kong autonomy act report" churned out by the US administration, which openly smears the National Security Law for the HKSAR, imposes sanctions on Chinese officials, and grossly interferes with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs as a whole.

The spokesperson said that the national security law has plugged the loopholes in safeguarding national security in Hong Kong, curbed the rampant "Hong Kong independence" movement, and reversed the chaos caused by black violence. It marks a major turning point for Hong Kong to resume stability, and has started a new chapter in the practice of "One Country, Two Systems". Facts have proven that the law is a sword hanging over the heads of the very few anti-China troublemakers in the city who have undermined national security, and a guardian for the majority of law-abiding Hong Kong citizens and foreign nationals. The legitimate rights and freedoms of Hong Kong people continue to be earnestly protected under the law.

The spokesperson pointed out that the US side, turning a blind eye to the sound momentum in the Hong Kong situation, the people's will for Hong Kong to embark on a new journey and the principle of non-interference in international law, has discredited the national security law with the report, smeared the just efforts by the Central and HKSAR governments to set things right, imposed sanctions on Central and HKSAR officials, and unabashedly endorsed the troublemakers. By doing so, it has again exposed its motive to sow trouble in Hong Kong and contain China's development. But the erroneous moves by the US will never stop the historical trend towards greater success of "One Country, Two Systems", will never dampen the bright prospects of Hong Kong being integrated into national development strategies and opening up new horizons, still less stop the mighty force of the 1.4 billion Chinese people, including our Hong Kong compatriots, to achieve great national rejuvenation.

The spokesperson emphasized that Hong Kong is part of China, and its affairs are purely China's internal affairs. The US side should correct its mistakes, and immediately stop meddling with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs as whole in any form. China will continue to resolutely defend its national sovereignty and security, and the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and personnel.
