Message from the Commissioner
Welcome to the website of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, established pursuant to the Basic Law of HKSAR, handles foreign affairs relating to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which the Central People's Government shall be responsible for. The Commissioner's Office was established on 1 July 1997, the same day when the HKSAR was inaugurated. We have gone through the past 15 years together with the HKSAR, working relentlessly to promote progress in our country's conduct of diplomacy concerning HKSAR.
This website, launched in 1999, has served as an irreplaceable platform for foreign affairs relating to the HKSAR and an important channel for Hong Kong compatriots to know more about China's diplomacy and share the pride of the Chinese nation. We will continue to work in an innovative way to make our website more open, quality and user-friendly, so that we are able to update important information in a timely fashion, provide fast and efficient service and expand interaction with users. It is our hope that the website will open up a window for you to know more about China's conduct of diplomacy and the Commissioner's Office and a bridge that connects Hong Kong with the Mainland and the rest of the world. I want to join my colleagues and Hong Kong compatriots in witnessing greater prosperity and progress of our country as well as further development of its conduct of diplomacy and writing a new chapter in Hong Kong-related diplomacy in this mega-city known as Pearl of the Orient.
Thank you for your care and support of China's diplomacy and work of the Commissioner's Office. We appreciate your visits to our website and look forward to hearing your advices and suggestions.
Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
