Commissioner Lü Xinhua met Chief Officer Zhang Yannong of the People's Daily at the Commissioner's Office on 9 November 2009. Mr. Zhang had come for the opening ceremony of the Bureau of People's Daily in Hong Kong.

Commissioner Lü expressed warm congratulations on the upgrading of the Hong Kong Office to Bureau of People's Daily in Hong Kong, and reaffirmed the willingness of the Commissioner's Office to enhance exchange and cooperation with the People's Daily. He hoped that the paper would become even better in future.

Deputy Commissioner Yang Zigang and Spokesman Song Ronghua of the Commissioner's Office also took part in the meeting.

Commissioner Lü Xinhua then attended the reception at the Commissioner's Office for the opening ceremony of the Bureau of People's Daily in Hong Kong.
