Spokesperson of Commissioner's Office Answers Question from Reporter
2014/07/15

Q: The British government published a six-monthly report on Hong Kong yesterday. What is China's comment?

A: In the past 17 years since Hong Kong's return to the Motherland, the practice of "one country, two systems" has achieved great success, which is recognized by all. The British should understand this very clearly if they compare what Hong Kong was like 17 years ago with what it is today. I want to stress that a prosperous and stable Hong Kong serves the interests of all sides. I would like to reiterate that Hong Kong is China's Special Administrative Region. Hong Kong SAR's affairs fall with China's internal affairs. China firmly opposes any interference in Hong Kong's affairs by any foreign country under whatever pretext, and hopes that relevant countries can do things that are conducive to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.
