2010-01-19

A total of 40 members of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Postgraduate Association visited the Commissioner's Office on January 16 2010.

Deputy Commissioner Yang Zigang warmly welcomed the guests, and introduced to them China's independent foreign policy of peace and the country's position and views on global issues. He encouraged the students to study hard and become capable professionals to serve the development of Hong Kong and China in general. Young diplomats from the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Policy Research Department, Department of Media and Public Relations, Department of Treaty and Law and Consular Department introduced to the students the work of their respective departments and answered questions from the audience. They then led the students in several groups on a tour of the Commissioner's Office to see the photo exhibition on China's diplomatic achievements and works of art on display.

A representative of the Polytechnic University thanked the deputy commissioner for the meeting, which enhanced the young students' understanding of China's diplomatic undertakings and the work of the Commissioner's Office. He also expressed the belief that this would help foster a sense of national identity and honor for the students, and inspire them to study hard and become capable individuals to serve their motherland.
