Commissioner Lü Xinhua met and gave a banquet to Tonga King George Tupou V and his entourage, among whom were Tonga's Ambassador to China H.E. Mahe Uliuli Tupouniua and the kingdom's Honorary Consul in Hong Kong Mr. George Chen Kai-cheung, at the Commissioner's Office on February 10 2010.

The commissioner warmly welcomed the king to the Commissioner's Office and conveyed to his majesty cordial greetings for the Chinese Lunar New Year. He expressed appreciation to King George Tupou V for his interest in and support to his kingdom's relations with China, and had a friendly talk with the king about the development of both countries in the economic, cultural and tourism fields and other topics of shared interest. King George Tupou V expressed his thanks to the commissioner for his hospitality.

King George Tupou V was in Hong Kong on a private visit.
