| Deputy Commissioner Zhan Yongxin Gave Report to Hong Kong Youth Military Summer Camp |

Deputy Commissioner Zhan Yongxin gave a presentation titled "China's Foreign Policies and the Country's Independence and Development" to a youth military summer camp on July 14.
In his presentation, Mr. Zhan contrasted the century-old humiliation and sufferings the old China endured with the diplomatic achievements the People's Republic of China had attained, and outlined to the young summer campers the efforts their motherland made in the first thirty years since the founding of the country to uphold sovereignty and national security and the thinking behind the policy of diplomacy serving and promoting national development and world peace since the reform and opening-up program began. The deputy commissioner also gave a brief introduction on the organization and functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the work of the Commissioner's Office and the glorious pains of the work as a diplomat. He then answered questions from the students. Deputy Commissioner Zhan toured the dormitory of the students after his report before having lunch with the young summer campers.
The Hong Kong Youth Military Summer Camp, co-organized by the PLA Garrison in Hong Kong, the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government and the Concerted Efforts Resource Center since 2005, is a popular program under which 200 high school students are selected every year to participate in military and physical trainings in addition to education in China’s national conditions and cultivation of virtue. |
