Vice Premier Wang Qishan and His Turkmen Counterpart Attend the Opening Session of China-Turkmenistan Business Forum

On November 22, 2011, Vice Premier and Chinese Chairman of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Commission Wang Qishan and his Turkmenistan counterpart and Turkmen Chairman of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Commission Baymyrat Hojamuhammedov attended and addressed the opening session of a business forum between China and Turkmenistan in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Hojamuhammedov was accompanying Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on a state visit to China.

Wang said in recent years, China-Turkmenistan relations have achieved steady, sound development with deepening political trust, fruitful cooperation in the economic, trade, energy, transportation and other fields and rapidly growing bilateral trade. Putting into operation of the China-Turkmenistan natural gas pipeline marks bilateral energy cooperation has entered a new stage. Facts prove that China and Turkmenistan are not only sincere friends but also mutually beneficial cooperative partners, said the Vice Premier.

Wang said China and Turkmenistan, as friendly neighbors, are highly complementary to each other in economy and there is huge potential in their cooperation. He urged both sides to seize the opportunity and strive to push pragmatic cooperation in all areas to a higher level. He hoped that businesses of both sides would take the opportunity of the forum, deepen exchanges and communication and strive to achieve more tangible outcomes. China is ready to work with Turkmenistan to earnestly implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, give full play to the role of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Commission and create a good environment for their business cooperation in a bid to push forward bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

Addressing the forum, Hojamuhammedov said that Turkmenistan attached great importance to cooperating with China in economic, trade and other fields. In recent years, the level of bilateral cooperation has been enhanced with growing exchanges between businesses and smooth cooperation in large projects. Turkmenistan-China cooperation has entered a new stage of development. Turkmenistan is willing to work with China to display the two economies' complementarities, further tap the potential for bilateral cooperation in various fields and continuously push the friendly cooperative relations to a new level.

About 500 people from the governments and business communities of the two countries attended the forum. Representatives of entrepreneurs of the two countries held discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, mining, finance, transportation, communications, infrastructure construction and other fields.
