The Department of International Organizations and Conferences has the following responsibilities: coordinating matters concerning Hong Kong's participation, in an appropriate capacity, in international organizations and conferences, joining in new international organizations, hosting of intergovernmental and international conferences or events of international organizations, and the setting up of offices in Hong Kong by international organizations as well as the visit to Hong Kong by major figures from intergovernmental and international organizations; assisting the Hong Kong SAR in dealing with matters concerning the implementation in Hong Kong of UN Security Council resolutions on sanctions; handling matters relevant to Hong Kong that are relating to arms control; assisting the Hong Kong SAR in contacting, handing in reports, questionnaires, statistical data or other information to international organizations which are only open to sovereign states.
