Conference "China's 40 Years of Reform and Opening up" Successfully Convened in HK

  On 29 October 2018, the Commissioner's Office and the Better Hong Kong Foundation jointly hosted the Conference "China's 40 Years of Reform and Opening up: Implications for the World and Role of Hong Kong" in Hong Kong. The conference was attended by political leaders including CPPCC Vice Chairperson Tung Chee Hwa, Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, former Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Li Zhaoxing and former United States Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky, together with renowned scholars and experts from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, United States, United Kingdom, France, Japan and Indonesia. The attendees to the conference reviewed the remarkable journey of China's reform and opening up, shared insights on the ever-developing path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, discussed the global implications of the reform and opening up and envisioned the precious opportunities Hong Kong may face in the new era.
